Why This Site Exists
There's a gap in this market that's easy to see once you've looked at it.
A loft conversion in West London is a £30,000–£50,000 decision, and almost nobody will tell you anything useful about it until they've been to your house. Search “loft conversion Ealing” and you'll get directories, a handful of large specialists with location pages, and a Google listing or two. Almost none of it tells you what the work costs, which type your house needs, or that Ealing has six conservation areas where an Article 4 direction means you'll need permission for something you assumed was automatic.

What We Actually Know About
Local housing stock, mostly, and it turns out to be the useful thing.
West London was built in layers, and each layer needs a different loft conversion. The inter-war semis that fill Greenford, Perivale, Northolt, Harrow and Ruislip have hipped roofs that waste most of the loft — those want a hip to gable. The Victorian and Edwardian terraces of Acton, Hanwell and Chiswick usually have a rear outrigger, which points at an L-shaped dormer. The tall, narrow terraces of Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush are mansard country. Richmond, Kew and Teddington are older and heavily conservation-designated, so planning shapes the design more than the roof does.
None of that is secret, but it's rarely written down in one place, and it's the difference between arriving at a conversation knowing roughly what you're asking for and arriving at it cold.
